Finally Light Bulb Company: B-Roll

John Goscha, Founder and CEO

owner1John Goscha is an inventor, innovator and entrepreneur who formed his first company, Goscha Golf in his parent’s garage while still in high school.  His golf club designs, which used silicon fibers and lightweight aluminum as opposed to titanium, allowed golfers to adjust the sweet spot of his clubs by using an adjustable weighting system and became the precursors to the TaylorMade r7 Driver.  While at Babson College, John began working on the concept for IdeaPaint, a roller applied paint that transforms any smooth surface into a high-quality dry-erase surface.  IdeaPaint, Inc. raised $15 million in venture capital and was awarded two “Best of NeoCon” awards in the “Innovation” and “Wallcoverings” categories at the 2008 NeoCon, one of the design industry’s largest showcases.  Today, IdeaPaint has painted more than 75,000 organizations, is distributed through Lowe’s, Staples, Glidden, and Sherwin-Williams, and can be found in more than 20 countries.

With this success behind him, John decided to tackle the newest paradox in consumer lighting: how to generate warm, pleasing, high quality light that is both energy-efficient and affordable.

To John, the complete reliance on LED, CFL and even incandescent and halogen technology to steer lighting into the future seemed narrowly focused.  He founded Lucidity Lights, Inc. and surrounded himself with some of the greatest minds in lighting, including the former heads of research at General Electric and Osram Sylvania.  Together they developed a light bulb that replicates the design, authenticity and warmth of the incandescent bulbs that everyone loves.  Using a brand new – not LED or CFL – technology they call Acandescence™, these long-lasting energy-efficient bulbs are also easy on the wallet.

In 2009, John was named one of “America’s Best Young Entrepreneurs” by BusinessWeek and “30 Under 30” by Inc. Magazine. In Dec 2011, Forbes listed John on their list of “Top 30 Under 30 in Technology.”
